Daniel Hannay

Director

With over 16 years of experience in the criminal defence sector, he has been involved in some of Queensland’s most serious and complex criminal cases and has represented a number of Australia’s high-profile personalities and professional athletes.

Daniel’s respected reputation in the field has seen him predominantly act for clients facing major and organised crime charges. His practice includes matters involving large-scale white-collar fraud, actions against company directors for breaches of fiduciary duties, drug importation and trafficking, and other serious indictable offences.

He regularly appears on behalf of clients before the Australian Crime Commission, the Australian Anti-Corruption Commission, the Crime and Corruption Commission, and ASIC hearings. Daniel is deeply committed to ensuring that every client receives fair representation and upholds the fundamental principles of justice in an ever-evolving legal and social landscape.

Daniel appears across all court jurisdictions — including the Magistrates, District, Supreme, and Court of Criminal Appeal — throughout Australia, as well as in the High Court of Australia.

Known for his approachable and composed demeanour, Daniel is nonetheless a formidable advocate for his clients. He is dedicated to handling every matter with care, professionalism, and determination to achieve the best possible result.

Outside the courtroom, Daniel is passionate about community engagement. Through Hannay Criminal Defence, he actively supports local sporting clubs, athletes, and charitable organisations.
