Richard is a trilingual solicitor (English, Mandarin, and Cantonese) with a focused practice in criminal law, providing culturally sensitive and strategic legal advice to a diverse client base. He also maintains a practice in family law.

Known for his calm, methodical approach and strong courtroom presence, Richard is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for his clients whether navigating complex criminal proceedings or high-conflict family law disputes. Richard is driven by a steadfast belief that every client deserves fairness, and he advocates with unwavering dedication to uphold that principle.

Richard regularly appears in the Magistrates, District, and Supreme Courts of Queensland and northern New South Wales, as well as before the Crime and Corruption Commission and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. He represents clients in a broad range of criminal matters, both indictable and summary offences, across all Australian jurisdictions. His experience spans property offences, assault, sexual offences, drug matters, domestic violence, white-collar crime, and regulatory breaches. In his family law practice, Richard represents clients in parenting and property matters, with a particular focus on cross-cultural dynamics and ensuring language accessibility for diverse clients.

With a deep understanding of both Australian legal frameworks and the cultural contexts of his Mandarin and Cantonese-speaking clients, Richard often advises individuals and families from migrant backgrounds. His ability to communicate fluently in three languages ensures that his clients feel heard, respected and empowered throughout the legal process.

In addition to his legal practice, Richard is an active committee member of the Australian Asian Lawyers Association (AALA) Queensland Branch, where he contributes to fostering a more inclusive and diverse legal community.

Prior to commencing his career in law, Richard worked in the corporate and commercial banking sectors in Hong Kong, managing a diverse portfolio of clients.

Richard holds a Juris Doctor degree, as well as a Bachelor of Arts with majors in International Relations and Public Relations. He has a strong foundation in both legal and strategic communication disciplines.
